That's what people make, so that's what they know. And that's what they stock. the local Joanns has a horrible selection of notions, interfacings, and such. They do have fantastic selection of plastic rules, rotary cutters, cutting mats, and books on quilting.

I'm about to place a fabric order for 10-12 oz cotton/poly twill. I'll let you know how it works out. The site I'm ordering from is Fabric.com They keep a variety of colors on hand at all times. Sometime they will have various denims including bull. i haven't looked for camo but they may have it.
Fabric Mart They had some blue cord I was drooling over, and then had some nice wools.

Shanntarra,
When you get the fabric would you please weigh it and find the actual weight per Fabric Yard.
I have found that the weights on this site to be a bit off.
1 Fabric Yard = 36" long X 60" wide or 15 square feet or 2160 square inches

Sure I would be happy to. I'm making some early colonial coats for a play and I need them lighter weight so I'm making them out of cotton/poly twill. I'll happily do my best to weigh it.

As others have observed, it can be really hard to find cotton/poly at your local fabric store (and online does not seem much better). As pointed out by our favorite Wizard (and others), your local Army/Navy surplus might have what you are looking for. Anything other than camo, khaki, olive drab, or perhaps black might be unlikely, but these options are much better than my local Joanne!

I ended up getting a better deal at Joann's on my cotton poly fabric. They currently have their bottom weights on sale. To be honest the only one of them I would want to make a kilt out of was what my husband picked out for his character's trousers, and cost $20 a yard then a 50% coupon made it $10 a yard. Though a little expensive for a kilt the heavier weight would be worth it. My rogue's current kilt was made from a lighter weight twill though great to work with , now that it has been washed a couple times (he keeps dripping mustard and ketchup in his lap) If I don't press it before he goes out in it. It doesn't look good.
Spend the money to get good fabric.

dwmoffatt,
As you can see from looking through the fabric.com website they have very little Polyester and Cotton blend fabrics woven in a Twill.
Also note that they do not state the actual weight of the fabric.
I purchased some fabric from them about six years ago when I was searching for suppliers and found them to be too light for my purposes. But they may be perfect for what you need or want.
