Oh yeah, desert tray's were the best, they were a bit larger, easier to sit on.

Someday I would wish that there would be sufficient peace on this earth that tobogganing atop riot shields would be the only thing they were good for. ;-)

Isn't there something in the bible about beating riot shields into sleds?
When I was younger, we would procure an automobile hood and use it for sledding. Rough on the hood, but one heck of a ride.

We found that an old car door towed behind the landy (land rover) on the beach made up for a lack of snow in the summer....

there are quite a few times we used spineboards for sleds in Denver.....this is no different than that.
let them have some fun dagnabit! their job is a difficult one, its good to see them "blow off some steam" ( even if it was "on the clock" what harm was done besides some good public relations)
I doubt they got into serious trouble, maybe a verbal but I can't see them getting fired over something like that.

Sliding boards taken off of kids' swing sets make good sleds. The turned-up part at the end is good for compacting the snow, and once you've pushed down a "track" with the sliding board, you can't slide out of it. I used to ride one at my parents' house, where there's a long, sloping driveway.
