Yeah, I can see that...I remember when I first unwrapped them and tried to sort it out, my thoughts were "what am I gonna do with three feet of wool", and "how do I get the ends even?" 
It took quite a bit of experimentation, and jumping (literally) around the house to arrive at something durable, not bulky, and easy to remember. 
I wonder, if I'd found your video first, if I'd have been doing them that way since day one.
