    Any contemporary images of this unit?

    "highland costume" and "plaid garb" etc don't give much of a clue.

    Maybe kilts, maybe plaid trousers?

    Interesting that a recently formed pipe band here has adopted the Wallace tartan. I wonder if the band's organisers were aware of the historical connexion.
