Tobus,
When beating through brambles, you find yourself picking your feet up past your ears....lower leg covering won't quite do......would look like a cat fight had happened up your kilt!

Even though tonight I am at home and indoors and alone I am still wearing a kilt.
It's just so comfortable and fun.
Congratulations!

I would've said a cock fight but, well. . .those are illegal in California, and rightly so.

My inner eyes are already regretting the image, and I'm sure I'll regret the
asking, but I gotta. Feet above the ears, Micric? As you know, no pics,
it didn't happen.
I'm hardly the intrepid explorer, but from the Catskills to the Rio Grande, from
the Okefenokee to Muir Woods, the Amazon to the Atacama, King's Canyon,
Uluru, Barrier Reef, Siberia, Plymouth to Inverness, I don't recall one
instance of that being required, and if it had, I'd probably still be feeling it.
However, maybe in this one instance, I'll specify trousered, not kilted pics.

It's been a couple of months since we were on this subject, but I'm pleased to say that hiking through rough country, kilted, while wearing lower leg protection (specifically, WWII-era military leggings) has been pretty successful.
I hike with a good staff in my hand, and so anything that's higher than my leggings can be batted away or swept aside with the staff. The bulk of the cactus, brambles, thorny brush, etc., is below my knees.
Obviously, hiking through chest-high thorny brush is going to be a problem no matter what you're wearing. And obviously there are limits to what's reasonable in a kilt. But with gaiters or military leggings, it's a darn good compromise.
