Shows that a leather kilt can still be traditional

I really like the look of that kilt better with the sporran. In my (admittedly narrow) mind, a kilt needs some type of "detail" in the front, in order to look like a kilt. A sporran, or the patterns of snaps or buttons used on many contemporary kilts, something. That second picture looks sharp. That's similar to the way I might wear a contemporary kilt for "nice, but casual" evening wear.

    Have Fun,
    Tom

I agree. Even with the pockets, the sporrran is neccissary. In pic 3, it looks like something is missing.

Agreed! When I say "semi-traditional," what I mean is that it has that touch of class that a traditional outfit would have, with a lot of traditional elements, while at the same time sitting well with modern sensibilities.

The OP reminds me of the various "1 kilt, 10 looks" thread....except the other way. I'd love to see the "10 kilts, 1 look" thread

Of course, ten tartan kilts would be far less exciting in such a thread than say....any randomly selected ten Kilts from the kloset of Hamish!

Each to their own EB and you always look dapper whichever side of the fence you are. As you say, there are enough "grey" areas already without getting mired in more.

Dude, you're trying to rock so many different colors AND patterns at the same time that it reminds me of my buddy who is color-blind. Your traditional really isn't that traditional and your modern isn't that modern. The sporran needs to stay but the clips need to go.

Hate to tell you - but patterned shirts (especially windowpane, tattersall, and check) and ties (especially regimental stripe) are very, very traditional with kilts.
Have fun and throw far. In that order, too. - o1d_dude
