Thanks, Ham!
It was incredible seeing all those kilts in one place. It was the first time I'd ever attended one of those events. I'm sorry that you don't have any that are close to you.
Virtually all of the kilted women were members of the various pipe bands, but I have to agree with you. It is somewhat frustrating seeing them wearing "our" kilts.

spats & mounties...
Spats, or leggings, are a part of a traditional military uniform -- most UK & Commonwealth military pipe bands wear them as part of their "full dress". I have never seen them in any other colour but white.
As far as the Mounties in kilts, these fellows are only in the kilt for band functions; the rest of the time they are in the standard RCMP uniform.
One of the battalions of the Canadian Expeditionary Force in WWI actually had a MOUNTED Pipe Band, although the pipers were in trousers, not kilts!

Those pleated-to-the-stripe kilts are really 'mouthwatering'. One downer, however: seeing so many women/girls wearing 'our' kilts! ![Crying or Very sad](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_cry.gif)
Hamish, there are a number of games in July/August in on both coasts of Canada. I will compile a list for you (and any others)prior to the Vancouver Gathering next August, just in case any fit your schedule.

That's really kind of you, Colin. I have no idea what time I shall have for extra curricular activities during next year's visit. It will be my first time in that part of Canada. Apart from enjoying anything that you guys over there might be planning, I plan only to return to Seattle for a couple of days to catch up with my Utilikilts HQ pals.
Hey! Maybe, in addition to the August Kilts Night in Vancouver, we could have a Kilts Day at a nearby Games?
