New pics up...
Hi all, just added some pics from the 2004 Calgary Highland Games. I was only able to attend for a few hours in the morning, but what a great time!
While there I managed to find a nice day sporran, some cream kilt hose, and black flashes. The sporran was the buy of the day at only $25 Canadian, complete with belt!

Thanks John!
I believe those are members of the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) Pipe & Drum band. Very sharp looking outfits!

I personally don't like the spats; I think they're too bright. But it's good to see a combining of traditional kilt-wear with other items of a uniform. Maybe the spats wouldn't look so jarring if they wore white hose, or if the spats were blue to match the hose.
I think it's funny that the RCMP wear kilts, since kilts aren't especially suited for riding.
Andrew.

And GMan wins the groaner of the day contest!
I'm glad everyone likes the pics!
Graham...I went early in the morning. The only kilted fellows I saw were part of the bands, were vendors, or were participating in the heavy games. I didn't see any casual kilt outfits at all. One of the vendors told me it was too cold for anyone other than participants to be kilted! Had I taken my truck instead of my motorcycle I would have been wearing my Bear kilt.
There's another Highland Games tomorrow (Sunday) in Canmore, about 60 miles west of us. If I can get up there I'll definitely be kilted. I'll have my camera with me if I go.

Splendid photos. Al G.
How jealous I am of you guys over there in the USA/Canada. You have such a number and variety of Highland Games/Gatherings/RenFaires, etc. whilst we, at least in the south of England, have to travel the 400-odd miles to Central Scotland to attend such things [Alright, Rhino, I am aware of Ashbourne, but that's a one-off and it's still some 190 miles away!]
Those pleated-to-the-stripe kilts are really 'mouthwatering'. One downer, however: seeing so many women/girls wearing 'our' kilts!
