Which brings us to a subtle difference amongst the members of this forum.
Why are you really wearing that kilt? Are you wearing it to be comfortable? Are you wearing it to declare your heritage? Or are you wearing it to be different and thereby singled out?
Whether you are wanting personal comfort, the opportunity to be proud of who you are, or just to be a rebel really makes no difference in the end. But there are still those three distinctly different categories, nonetheless.

Yes, but not the primary reason.

Yes this would be my main reason to wear a kilt.

I thought I was different anyway, you know just like everybody else.
I find it refreshing now that those around me are used to seeing the kilt I dont get asked about nearly as much as I did in the past, it's just what I wear nothing more.

Robertson and Steve,
Thank you so much for the explanation/translation. I had not heard of Saran wrap. Although I ha' me doots, I thought it might be some sort of sarong fabric and was trying to envisage kilts made from it .
I thought everyone, the world over, called clingfilm clingfilm! Apologies for my poor education!!

Although I don't much comment from the clubs, I still get comments from strangers on the street. The majority of people want to know why I wear the kilt.

All three categories for me. I am proud of my Celtic heritage I am comfortable of my Kilt wearing, and I am a different sort who is I am what I am.
