In a democracy it's your vote that counts; in feudalism, it's your Count that votes.

I'd guess Steven knows his market. The problem with working the truck show circuit, trying to sell kilts is that, for every one driver like me, there are about 10,000 homophobic bigots who don't care to differentiate kilt from skirt.

Case in point: I was at a TA in Ontario, CA and I noticed a fellow wearing a SportKilt. I approached and started talking to him. We had a decent conversation.

About 10 minutes later, the gentleman left and I stepped outside to have a smoke. One of the other drivers smoking at the time said, "Did you see the <epithet that displayed the speakers homophobic tendencies> in the skirt in there?" Which was immediately followed by similarly distasteful statements and a chorus of chortles all of the others standing around.

I, then, explained that the fellow was wearing a kilt, not a skirt, and was returning from an evening of Scottish Country Dancing and that his only mistake was stopping at a place frequented by idiots and cowards.

When asked what I meant by that comment, in not so peaceable terms, I replied that it takes a man to wear a kilt, that only a coward speaks ill of a person, about whom they know nothing, and behind their back, and that only an idiot would think a kilt is a feminine garment. Knowing the conversation would get no better, I then took my leave.

Back on point, a 10x10 booth, on the show circuit, can cost upwards of a $2,500 for a commercial vendor. Knowing the audience, it would be a net loss for a kilt maker to work the circuit. Add to that the hassle of dealing with the knuckle dragger's* and I can see why Steven wouldn't want to deal with it.

*I really hate talking about my chosen profession this way. But, facts are facts.

Greetings from Pennsylvania, the state that truckers rate as having the worst road conditions in the USA. My wife is originally from just down the road from you in Lawton.
