There's more of us than I thought
While taking my youngest son to school yesterday morning (for a special "doughnuts with dad" day) some guy behind me muttered "nice kilt." I simply turned and said "thanks" like I usually do, expecting this to be the end of our conversation. To my surprise, this guy proceeded talking about his own kilts (McTarnahan and a blackwatch) and then told me that he played bagpipes with his fellow clan members. This came as a complete surprise to me, but I welcomed the conversation, despite being nearly speechless with surprise. He also said that he's a leatherworker and offered to make me a sporran, then asked about the peculiar kilt that I was wearing (a camo utilikilt). It just goes to show that there are more of us out there than I thought.
Also, I'm proud to say that this is my 100th post!

That's great news, the more we wear the kilt, the more others will too.

I'm not quite as optimistic. I think the more I wear the kilt, the more others simply accept it. As for others actually getting out and wearing it, that's the million dollar question. There are so very few of us, I believe we are and will remain an oddity and a blip of non-conformity in the near and mid term future. We each have to do this for our selves and our own reasons until some quirk of fate decides whether or not the rest of the world will discover the truth of it and join in. That could take a very very long time.
