Hi,
Mix of snow and rain showers here today with temps in the lower 30's this morning. I still have one hosta lilly in bloom.
Time to get out the wolly pullys and the Aran Island sweaters to go with heavy wool kilts.
In theory there is no difference between theory and practice but in practice there is.

I'll 2nd that!!! It's about 1530 MST here & it's only 78°F (26°C) here in Phoenix! I am so-o-o-o-o-o ready for some cooler weather!!!
We're in like our 13th or 14th year of drought & it's been a hot, dry Autumn. About a week ago we were having record heat with highs near 100°F - in November!!! - & we've had less than 3-inches of rain so far this year.
VERY unusual day for Phoenix, today, it's cloudy & we actually got a small amount of rain (less than a tenth of an inch), but that's the 1st rain in several months.
To celebrate the cooler weather today I'm wearing one of my tanks (16-oz Royal Regiment of Scotland w/ military box-pleats) rather than the usual utilikilt. And even with the wind (20 MPH sustained, gusting to 30 MPH), the tank stays where it's suppose to (no flare-ups).
.
Happiness? I'd settle for being less annoyed!!!

Being English I have an uncanny knack of gettin getting tanned in the rain. However emerging from the igloo in the spring i'm like a ghost. I hate the cold weather keep it above -10 and forget that wind chill factor! If I ever get that guy that invented WCF...

I remember many a Buffalo day, walking around in shorts and a T-shirt, getting into snowball fights.
Of course, on other days you needed to be in a parka with mittens or else suffer frostbite, but even those were good days.
The worst is heat with humidity. It makes it physically impossible to cool down. Anything over 60 degrees with more than 30% humidity is uncomfortable for me.

Last night I took the puppy for a walk at about 2:30am (about my normal bedtime). It was about 17F with wind 10-20mph. I had on some over-the-knee 'basics' from sockdreams as hose, and my UK original... which both seemed a bit too light. I stayed plenty warm though, in addition to a turtleneck shirt and a heavy wool sweater I was wearing my new rabbit-lined bomber hat with the ears cinched down. Surprisingly, the whole combo looked pretty good in a mirror!

We had our first snow flurries of the season today in south central PA. It's seems that it is finally cooling off for good.

The first part of the month was all clear blue skies and a gentle cooling off - yesterday was 10/10 cover and rain. Today is 10/10 of even thicker cloud and hail stones.
Time to get out the winter clothes.

I would advise staying away from Alabama for most of the year then. Sometimes we do warm up with a wee bit of humidity.
Today it's going to be in the 70's and by Thanksgiving it's going to be low 50's for the highs and the lows will be in the 20's or low 30's. With rain. "Beautiful Scottish weather!"
