This one is an actual ballgown from 1865:

...when we were still doing ACW living history I wanted to get one styled like this for my wife for the balls

Very nice, both ladies and dresses. Now I need to have Mrs. Standard get of those. Actually my daughter would like a tartan dress for her senior prom, not sure now after seeing how lovely these ladies look if I should let her or not.

    Bookmarked the site.

My wife has actually made several renaissance dresses for the renfair, including corsets with stay and laces. I'll have to put the bug in her head about some of those.

They are very nice pictures. Beautiful dresses coupled with beautiful ladies. I especially like the Isle of Skye wedding gown. I think some women worry that they will fade into the background when their man wears full Highland Regalia. With a gown like that, no would even realise he was kilted!

I notice something, guys.... Not too many of our lasses have responded to this thread. But you know, I dinnae think our lasses are intimated by gorgeous models, I mean every clothing stores catalog is chock-a-block with clothes draped over gorgeous models.

so what's the deal, here? How come only Cynthia, AcuteEnigma and Red Lioness have posted here, but none of the other lasses have anything to say?

Cynthia thinks she would love to make one, AcuteEnigma likes the Faire dress, bodice and chemise, and Red Lioness wants to have kids....*grin*

But how about our other lasses. Here's a thread all about THEIR clothes, admittedly very "girly" sorts of clothes, but they don't have much to say. What's up with that?

I think we need to know. I know full well that the Cloaked in Midnight Joan would no more wear anything like this than fly, she thinks tartan is "dowdy".

    so I'm curious.

Here are some tartan(ish) confections from the runways:

I usually cannot stand runway fashion, but I like the look of the dress and slouch hat.
