Kilt hose (likely an old subject)
I looked through the archive of messages, but didn't see anything other than what was recently posted. My specific question is where can I look for reasonably priced real kilt hose in either off-white or some other colour?

Check out some of the advertisers who help to support this forum! I've heard mighty fine things about FK's (Freedom Kilts) Heritage Hose, Matt Newsome at the Scottish Tartans Museum stocks a variety . . .
By "real" do you mean all wool? Or would you consider a wool blend?
You're in the right place to find the answers, I can assure you of that!

It depends on your definition of "reasonably."
"Real" kilt hose puts you out of the Sierra Trading Post and their frequent stockage of beautiful wool hiking socks.
http://giftshop.scottishtartans.org/hose.htm has real hose ranging from $18 +/- for acrylics to $135 for custom made hose.
http://www.usakilts.com/footwear.php has real hose ranging from $15 for a wool blend to $60 for custom made hose.
You should be able to find something suitable from either of these sponsors (or any of our other fine sponsors, too - I only recommend these two specifically because of my experience with them) and be very happy with the quality, value, and service.

Bear in mind that while hose seem a little expensive, they last. I just threw away my first pair of hose ever after just over 6 years. Try that with a pair of socks from K-Mart.
I personally ordered my last batch of hose from scottishkilts.net (they were on sale in Feb, but I think they are still only $13-14.
