If it were me…
Depends on what exact shade the “maroon” is.
The dark red in the Wallace or MacQueen might match.
With more time, the red/brown in the “Brown Watch” or Scott Hunting (Brown) Modern might match.
Ditto hose. I have three pair of maroon hose, all slightly different shades.
Stewart Black should do even with the red as to me it’s always looked “dressy.”
But not with maroon hose.
Sideways: Is “Prom” a Victorian era tradition?

Fraser and Kirkbright has a lightweight Lindsay wool/polyester mix material in their "remnants" section. This is the same stuff that I made the F-H.C.A.G.'s skirt out of. I have six yards of it x 28 inches that will sooner or later wind up as kilt for me. You could buy some and MAKE a kilt, if you have the skill set.
the only downside to this stuff is that it stinks to high heaven when you iron it.

Actually it should be "Horrible, despicable , big Blue Meanie" but I'll still take the compliment (I am a moderator after all )

Did Grant's Chicken make it through the operation?
My Scot blood, as minuscule as it is, says wear your clan tartan decked out to the max. That is what I did way back in ancient time.
For the junior prom, my date, with my sister's and my help, sewed together a gown in a pale blue, to which we attached my fly plaid. We had a great time and danced a brisk polka together, with everyone staying clear of flying pleats. As I had a 28 kilt waist, in a real TANK, there was no danger of "the question" being answered. The gown was a perfect backdrop to my MacNeil of Barra Ancient tartan. For weeks our outfits were the talk of the school.
Senior prom was a little different, I still went whole hog in my kilt, my date went with a tartan gown in her families tartan. We were the most colorful couple there, and again wowed the crowd.
Do what you are most comfortable with. Perhaps a neutral kilt, with maroon flashes, and wearing a maroon tie, to be all the coordination you need.

I would have to agree with Jock Scot on this one, wear your kilt and wear it proudly, it is your family tartan. Of course if you are going to get another kilt I would then agree with Ron the Thompson Grey would be a good match.

Well, this is America and we women are obviously a bit more uppity here! ![Laughing](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)
Seriously, though, my dear husband always tries to consult me on choice of dress so that at least we do not clash. We are both equally as likely to change our outfit to compliment the other. Perhaps this is the secret to our happy marriage-compromise. ![Razz](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)
Still, if you have limited choices and would like a single nice kilt, you should choose something that has meaning to you and that you are likely to get a lot of use out of, rather than just this one night. No one will care that much if you two match, they will only remember that "kilted guy" anyway!
Be well,
