There can be duty charged on items and it depends on what the thing is made from and where it is coming in from, and how much it is listed for on the customs form.
The Badges are being sent out as small packages with a cost of less than $200.00 us dollars. (which is the US personal item exemption limit) This should allow them to pass without duty charges.
However, If the particular customs agent, on the day your badge crosses his or her desk, is having a bad day, or is in a particularly crabby mood, all bets are off. Anything is possible.
But I don't expect anyone in the US to be charged duty on the badges.
I, of course, cannot comment on the customs systems in the UK, the EU or elsewhere. The UK system is totally without rhyme or reason. I mean the things were made in Scotland. But may be charged just because they first went on a couple of plane trips to Canada and back.

Folks, All the Badges that were ordered back when we started this have been sent out.
I am now working on the orders that have come in since the badges arrived.
A few of you will notice when you open your package that there is a slight difference between how many badges you ordered and paid for and what is in your package. This is due to my trying to address all those envelopes at midnight. My apologies, Send me an e-mail or PM if I screwed up.
To those who asked for embroidered patches to be included with your badges I have those made and they will go out this week.
To those who have asked for Clan Crest Belt Buckles I am getting them in a box and they will also go out this week.
I still have some extra Badges so no one get in a panic. The Badges will be a regularly available item and can be ordered whenever you are ready.
It will be nice to put this project to bed. It has been a long and tiring process. I've learned a lot about how to make something like this happen.
Now on to some of the other things we rabble need. Like a run of X Marks Tartan in P/V or perhaps some shirts.
Let's start seeing some pics of these badges in use.

Hi Steve,
MINE HAS ARRIVED!
The postman thrust it through my letter-box this morning. It is in perfect order and no duty, taxes or documentation charges were made.
I have to admit that I was not expecting this badge to be of such high quality, all your hard work and preparations not withstanding, and judging by some other Gaelic Themes items I have had over the years, but this is truly an outstanding piece.
THANK YOU.
Take care,
Ham.
[PS: A photo will follow in a few days - there are just too many other things going on in my life at the moment!]
