Personally I would say go. If anyone asks, just give them a quick reminder that what they are asking constitutes sexual harrasment. That would probably shut them up very quickly.

I dont want to sound too harsh but...I am always surprised when people are so easily intimidated by their peers.
I mean...you are a mason, ok...there will be other masons at whatever you masons do, ok....I'm sure they do have theur dress regulations and that's fine, as it usually happens with these clubs or whatever they are.
But to tell someone whether to use underwear or not...that is definitely crossing all boundaries.
So they are police officers, ok...and the issue is...?
I just dont get it, specially when we're all adults here. Either show up as YOU WANT TO SHOW UP within the given dress code, or don;t show up at all.
Underwear is nobody's business but our own.
cheers

I have guffawed my way thru this thread, and after choking back the tears initiated by Rocky's leopard print thong comment, am finally able to see clearly enough to hit the right keys on the laptop.
Where I come from this is called a "my ball, my yard, my rules" kind of situation. It's one night, abide by the request. It is not like it is going to forever tarnish your image or leave some indelible stamp of dishonor on your privates or anything.
One man's O.

I'm with the wild undies crowd (heart print Valentine's Day boxers)..and .if its within the "rules" ask someone to photograph the official kilt check. Enlarge the photo and hang it in the hall or whatever Mason's meet at/in. Sorry, my knowledge of Masonry is limited to The Man Who Would Be King.

It is their house and you would be there for the brother. That said I seem to recall some briefs I saw once (on line) which had an anatomically correct print on them.
Either way, either go or not with good cheer!

Thongs can be hard to come by, but....
Kmart has Joe Boxer ones, and sometimes they have leopard print ones, they are in three packs.... I know nothing of this though.

The leader of the local one when I joined decided he didn't like pagans, and I got black balled for 5 years. (They denied me entry to trying again in Michigan, even stated that as a reason. )
The 5 year period has ended, but it may be some time before I attempt to join again. I owe it to my deceased father to try again.
