I intend to wear my kilt on the 4th, so soon afterwords I'll try and post pix.
Since I have an Irish last name, and my mother's maiden name is Scottish, I went with hers. I know have two kilts made with the Wilson tartan. The first is an 8 yard Muted Wilson pleated to the sett, and the 4 yard box pleated to the white stripe.

Well, MrMe, you can’t just leave it at that! The Wilson tartan is fine, but you will need an Irish tartan, too.
Don’t know your surname, but there are a few dozen Irish family tartans now, and at least one for every county, plus a few for other districts. There are a number for both Ulster and Connaught, one each for Munster and Leinster, one for Tara and one for Breifne (ancient kingdoms). Wherever your Irish ancestors came from, there is a tartan for that region.
Regards,
Mike

At some future time, I've thought about purchasing an Irish District tartan kilt. My paternal grandfather was very big into genealogy and traced our family's history back to the early 1800's. If I do finally break down and buy one I would purchase a kilt using the Cork County tartan.
I've tried scotch but I can't get past the peat moss taste, so I stick with Irish Whiskey. I have a bottle of Redbreast ready for tomorrow though
