Nope, I still can't jump on-board. Give me a plain cap-toe.

Why?
I don't hate the first ones, but am not sure where they would fit in. I can't make an argument for them when we have a myriad of handsome regular brogues to choose from.
The others, well.....

MacMillan's son asks why and I assume that the idea is to give a nod to the conventional while doing something different.
The first one with the tongue is shown tied with normal length laces and is a step closer to a regular brogue. I like that they look less "costumey" than standard ghillie brogues.
The other ones... maybe for black tie goth?
Or with a tuxedo utilikilt?

Ok
That makes sense CMcG.
I must admit, I didn't look to see what forum we were in before I posted . I need to be more diligent about that. For the applications you described, I think they would be great!

I can't imagine that all those straps and strings above the ankle would be very comfortable. I like the first picture the best.

The first pair was ... okay. I can see the modern take on the old theme. But, and this is just my opinion, I just don't care for those others--modern, traditional or otherwise. I do think those were designed with Goth in mind first and possibly kilted Goth as a second order effect.

Here are a few pics. Any thoughts?
These are the most "normal" looking except that they have tongues:
And then they get quite fashion forward:

I look at the 3rd picture and all I can think is Abby Sciuto would love those!

I only have one thing to say...ABBY ROCKS. And by the way my 5 year old daughter agrees...That scares me.

It's been a long strange ride so far and I'm not even halfway home yet.
