I'll strap on the Carolina, since many Scots came to my state after leaving their homeland.

On 1 July 1782 Royal assent was given to Repeal of the Act Prescribing the Wearing of Highland Dress <snip>.
By the way it was the Act of Proscription, not the Act of Prescription. The latter was "take two kilts and call me in the morning," as I recall

That's the kind of permission I like!

I'll be wearing my clergy tank to the Embro Highland Games just a couple of miles from here.

As it is Tartan day in Australia now, I have my Maclaren weathered on as I type. I will later be going down to one of the areas major shopping hubs and it will be interesting to see if any others are wearing any tartan, let alone kilts.

Thanks for the reminder. I will be kilted as much as I can this weekend and for the holiday. For some reason my employer is giving us Friday and Monday off for a 4-day weekend.

I was kilted today, and have no plans to put on pants until Tuesday just to celebrate my two days off work this week, the weekend, and the 4th. But now I have reasons to hoist another three to the Great White North, the Act of Proscription, and Tartan Days Down Under!
Thistledown, I have always loved that pin! I get a real kick out of it! I'd love to get one of those to go with my bushpilot wings!

I will be kilted at Kells Irish Pub in Portland, Oregon. My daughters dance troupe will be performing at 7:00pm. All are welcome. Come on down and have a pint or two.

I'm torn between wearing my SportKilt in U.S. Army tartan or my black UK.
