So sad. My thoughts are with the families and friends of the deceased.

    Thank you all!
As you said, Singlemalt, we do tend to consider ourselves quite safe up here in the north of Europe and up until Friday things like this did only happen elsewhere.. We are also a country with very few inhabitants (closing in on 5,000,000 in total now...), so something like this truly hits home quite forcefully. I'm just so very thankful that all those close to me are safe and that the spirit of companionship is growing ever stronger throughout Norway as we speak. As our PM is quoted in Oslo based newspaper VG to the attacker(s); "You will not destroy us. You will not destroy our democracy or our ideals for a better world."
    Again - thank you!

Acts such as this are incomprehensible to most of us. My heart and thoughts are with all those affected by this tragedy.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

My thoughts and prayers go out to all of my Norwegian brothers and sisters. I'm half Swede with relatives still living over there. Putting all of the Scandinavian banter aside until brighter times, we're all family somewhere along the line.

Just terrible. My thoughts and prayers with those families who have lost their loved ones. Whilst an active-duty Marine, I was in beautiful Oslo in 2003, on my way to Trondheim for cold weather training with the U.S. Marine Corps and Norwegian Army - they are a selfless and very hospitable people - much like the Scots. Such an unnecessary tragedy. God Bless.

There are no words, that can discribe the pains and sorrows of so many destroyed lives, for the victims who fell at the hand of one of there fellow countrymen, and the families who are left with the grief. There is no sentence great enough to compensate for the loss of so many people, who had every right to live in peace and freedom, there is no excuse for murder!

I raise a glass and toast to our friends of the north, and offer my best to them, and may they draw strength and wisdom (that it will never be repeated), and are left with the cherished memories of the loved and lost. [Quote]

Again, I can do nothing more than to thank you all! I am sitting here with goose bumps all over after attending a ceremony in Oslo where we gave our definitive answer to these horrible acts - as many as 150-200 thousand people gathered in the streets around Oslo City Hall armed with roses and love! (Remember also that Oslo is a city of ~600,000 people..)
Never in my life have I experienced such a heartfelt and true expression of sorrow and love to once country as I did when standing in the midst of those thousands upon thousands of people all standing with arms stretched rose in hand and all spontaneously starting singing the national anthem in a wonderfully mellow choir.
I attach a link to a short video showing a different song but still showing the magnitude of the turnout around City Hall this evening. I have truly never been more proud to be a Norwegian!
