Thank you for doing that, Rev.
Too often it takes someone to remind us of others ill fortune as we get involved in our daily tasks.

I appreciate the the sentiments are well placed but it might be against the spirit of Rule #5?
Asking for prayers and thoughts is one thing but verbalising them in this way could well be another.

As you rightly guessed I was "dressed down" for breaking rule #5. Funny thing about that rule is I read it before posting and I STILL do not see how a prayer is in violation of said law.
If you or anybody else wants to interpret this for me and then fill me in on how I broke it then by all means please do:
Rule #5
- Discussions espousing one particular religious belief or political system over another or comparison of one belief or system to another will not be allowed.
I will be waiting over here in my corner waiting to hear from anybody.
Rev.

Oh good grief... Though I appreciated your sentiment and prayer for those of us here in TN, I'm afraid I saw this one coming. I don't agree with the mods on this point however. I don't see how saying you are praying for someone versus verbalizing said prayer is any different. I would be surprised if anyone were actually offended by your post. Though I am a Christian myself, I've often seen atheist, pagans, agnostics, Buddhists, etc. share an appreciative word over a prayer said for their sake or for the well-being of others. Surely society is not so far gone as to not appreciate the sentiment behind one's actions regardless of the spiritual base from whence it comes. *sigh* I'm gonna quite now before I too am wrangled to a corner. For what it's worth, I thank you for your prayer and stand in accord with it.

I don't think that anyone questions the sentiments as I indicated before.
There has never been any objection to people asking for prayers for particular things and then leaving people to do what they wish privately.
But there are people who have a faith or one kind or another and there are people who do not and the words were phrased in the manner of one kind of faith alone. Granted that this represents your individual beliefs to which you are perfectly entitled KR, it nevertheless would open the way to anyone else that wished to express themselves in these forums in the words of their own belief system and create possible divisions and offence that the rules seek to avoid.
I have had an occasional post deleted also due to some potential rule infraction and I haven't seen it in that light at the time I posted and I guess many of us have had the same experience. I did not see it as a personal attack or criticism nor do the Moderators mean it to be. I think that Panache expressed it well when he posted something about leaving ourselves at the door when we enter X Marks.
Hope this helps a little.

I have deleted, before posting, my words 5 times. However I cannot sit back and refrain from comment. I am not a religious man, but I cannot see that anyone could take offence, or exception at some one wishing the more unfortunate amongst us well. There is the "letter of the law(rules)" and there is the "spirit of the law(rules)" and the two are not necessarily the same, I grant you. Nevertheless, in my humble opinion, no harm was meant and only goodwill was being spoken and I see absolutely no reason, whatsoever, why some one should be taken to task over this.

Jock, the problem never was the wishing people well sentiment and I am sure that we all feel nothing but good will for those who have suffered.
Nor is there any implication that harm was meant in any way. I am not privy to how this "dressing down" and "taking to task" was done but I would be surprised if it had been done in an offensive manner.

I have every confidence that the words and actions taken were nothing but courteous. There was no reason, that I can see, for it to be otherwise. Even if they were wrong actions.
I look forward to Christmas when all those "Happy Christmas" postings are removed .............they might upset some one! All this is just plain nonsense. I will have no further truck with this thread.
