    Yes, the European ponies do typically run on grass in their home venues, which is why about 1/4-1/3 of the Breeder's Cup races are actually run on the inner turf track that parallels the outer dirt track. It is, afterall, an international event, albeit predominated by US horses. Several of my winners this particular day were Euro ponies running in those turf races--I did better with them than I did with the dirt races and plethora of american horses.

    Second, had you been standing beside me when this beer-sodden soul with his arm around his equally beer-sodden girlfriend/wife accosted me by turning me around abruptly with a firm yank on my shoulder, followed by his as previously stated remark, you would have been as sure as I that this was not a person with any knowledge whatsoever of kilts, let alone which celtic nationalities wore what colors or patterns.
    Oh geez. I was trying to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. But I see now that "idiot" is probably one of the kindest terms I would have used to describe him.
