My user name combines the beginning of my first and last names in the common format of the early internet when user id was usually an 8-character field. I usually respond to "George" and always respond to "free Single Malt here".
My kilt origins started during my years in the Society for Creative Anachronism, where I find a number of ways to wear a great kilt wrong. (it was last millennium) I do a much better job at it nowadays. In the last year, I attended 3 Highland Games in WI and IL and was the only one wearing a Great Kilt. I usually combine the Great Kilt with 17th Century accessories, even if lacking a good pair of 17th C style shoes. Just bought 18th C shoes to break in, so they are a little closer in time. Lot of experience with the Great Kilt, only 2 times have I worn the modern style.
My Scottish ancestry comes by way of the Warren family name. Recently found that my ancestors were connected with the Clan MacDuff, so joined the Clan association and have an 8-yard MacDuff modern kilt in construction.
