Mike,
Thanks for sharing your girl's photos.
Looks like they had a great time and a good turnout.

Well, there was a good turn-out for last evening's show. I wish there might have been a larger turn-out for the march.

This was St Andrew's Day Rally, in Edinburgh.
Balquhidder is next month. But yes, I will take pics at the grave.

Mike. No offence but what's all this "Embra" nonesense? If you are referring to Scotland's Capital city, it is Edinburgh!!!

Hamish, no offence, but I certainly hope you find that lost sense of humor.
For those that do reside in Edinburgh (a.k.a. Auld Reekie, Dùn Eideann, Embra, etc.) that have been offended by my comment, please don't let it upset you. I also refer to Los Angeles as L.A., Chicago as the Windy City and New York City as the Big Apple. I am a model of absolute irreverent 'nonsense'. I try not to get wrapped too tightly, as life is too short for it.
Graham, 28 December is the anniversary of Raibert "Ruadh" MacGregor's death. My guess would be that there is another commemoration taking place at the grave on that date, so the Na Fir Dileas organizer chose the next available day. Again, that is just a guess. I communicate with the individual that organized that event fairly often, I can ask to see what the reasoning is.

I agree with Hamish lets have some respect for our fair capital! Irreverence is all well and good and I know that Americans like to use Slang and abbreveations, but we are talking about our capital city!

nickname...
Mike, is "Embra" a phonetic nickname? What "Edinburgh" sounds like when you say it fast with a Scots accent, similar to "Glesca" for "Glasgow"?
I don't think in this case Mike is being disrespectful. Nicknames many times are signs of an affinity or even a love for a person, place or thing. For instance, a friend of mine who lives in Fayetteville, Arkansas, constantly refers to his home town as "Fayettepatch". He means no disrespect by it.
"Auld Reekie" is Edinburgh's time-honoured nickname. No disrespect there either.
Cheers,
Todd

I dont think he was being disrespectful, however Edinburgh is called "Edinburgh" why use other names for it? "Auld Reekie" is a name that is sometimes used but it just serves to confuse less enlightened X marks members.
