Aw come on! Of course it's funny!
Don't be so thin skinned! I still contend that if you aren't prepared for things like this to happen, then you shouldn't be going kilted.
All humor, and I mean all humor has pain involved. If someone isn't hurt in some shape of manner, it isn't humor.
If you wear the kilt long enough, someone will lift it! When (not if) this happens, your own reaction will determine the outcome.
If you have no reaction, and just stand there, the lifter (the person who lifted your kilt) gets the tables turned and he/she is the one embarrassed!
If you make a scene, then they have accomplished what they set out to do, and you are embarrassed.
Either way it can be darn funny.
All my friends know that I go regimental. So if they want to look at my hairy rear-end, fine. And that’s all they will see, because my sporran always has enough stuff in it to keep the front down.
But, is it a joke? Always! Your choice is to determine who the joke is on!

Went to pick my daughter up at school once a long time ago. Some bullies were pushing a girl around. I told them to stop. They said, "We're just having fun." I asked the girl, "Are you having fun?" She said no. I told the bullies, "If she's not having fun, then you're not having fun."
Somehow it made sense, and my daughter and I would end up walking several girls home.
If the liftee isn't having fun, nobody is having fun. It's just another name for bullying. Any other comment is simply blaming the victim, still bullying.
Now when Grant comes to town, he really has been asking for it....

ONly had mine lifted once, by an dear friend who is known for being, well, not shy. It was funny for all in attendance.
We are all part of a "crew" that used to hang out at the Rose & Crown in Lewes De (now defunct) . Weren't too many secrets amongst the crowd.
If a Stranger did the same I would be a bit offended, but probably not outraged. I guess the range of reactions and opinions just demonstrates that we are all unique.
Hope it stays that way!

I have had only one experience with a kilt lifter. I was on an elevator on a cruise ship. Most of you get these young ladies but not me, no, I get a lady of about 95 (but she didn't look a day over 80). She was in a wheel chair and she starts to lift the back of the kilt. Either she was going to check on my under garments or she thought I was an old time camera and was putting her head under the cloth to take a pic. I did not let her do either. The next day on the cruise the bartender gives me a drink I did not order. He said it was from the lady in the wheelchair. Not sure if it was to say she was sorry or if she was hitting on me. No matter, I drank it anyway...

Wonder if it was the same lady I ran into. I was trying to make a purchase at a fair and this lady insisted on interrupting. She said her friend, the lady in the wheelchair wanted to know the answer to "the question". I told her to tell her that I would never ask her that.
Looks like she found another way.

Could be! I got asked the question the other day..I just leaned in close and in a low voice I said " Shh, under my clothes I am completely naked.." I really loved the look of confusion on her face..

Right, I'm adding that one to my script. Thanks.
