1.) There are some gents in the area that ride their Harleys kilted.
They tuck the under apron between the legs and sweep the pleats between the under apron and the saddle. Yes there is the possibility of road rash when the skin meets the sand/dirt. Most of the roads these gents travel are not paved.
2.) Go for the pink kilt.
Some years back our church decided to participate en mass on a breast cancer walk in support of one of our members going through the process. We found a bolt of pink fabric at the local sewing supply store....
We cut off 3 yard lengths, then folded in half, cut a head size opening in the center of the fold, then hemmed it around. Hemmed the two ends. Sewed the two sides to form a two seam A-line dress from below the chest. With some velcro, made adjustable side seams for the torso, using the cut-away for the sleeves. One of the members silk screened on the front two circles, and on the back. "Without your help this dress could fit my girlfriend."
Before the walk each "couple" would hit the local watering holes and take wagers on the gent having the b@##s to wear the dress for the whole length of the walk. We recorded a very large amount of "pledges". During the walk each of us men walked hand in hand with one of our generously endowed female members dressed to show off the girls.
We raised the record amount as a group for this walk, and were featured in a positive manner by the local news outlets. After the event we had no problem collecting the "pledges", while wearing our pink dresses to the watering holes. We did get toasted for our efforts in even the roughest bars in town.
Not one negative comment was said to any of the pink dressed men. The only comments were quite positive for helping the cause.

I found a picture of us at last years walk.

I commend you on raising the money that way. There use to be a group in our area that had kilted guys who would walk in their kilts wearing t-shirts that said "Save the melons", Their well endowed wives would wear one's that said "Save the grapes". each group would raise a good amount for both breast cancer and testicular cancer. Wish they still did that.
