Congratulations to your wife and you. As a father of 20 & 25 year old daughters my only advice is treasure every minute with your child and make as many memories as you can. Time flies far too fast and that little bundle you held on your shoulder is as tall as you and far more independent.
Best of luck.

"Before two notes of the theme were played, Colin knew it was Patrick Mor MacCrimmon's 'Lament for the Children'...Sad seven times--ah, Patrick MacCrimmon of the seven dead sons....'It's a hard tune, that', said old Angus. Hard on the piper; hard on them all; hard on the world." Butcher's Broom, by Neil Gunn, 1994 Walker & Co, NY, p. 397-8.

As a father of 17 and 12 year old sons, my only advice is pray for the best and insure everything.
Seriously, my sincerest congratulations. I'm 45, and I have a number of married friends who chose not to have kids, for one reason or another. While I never tell them they should have had kids, I do tell them that they've missed a helluva ride.

Thanks for all the well wishes! Actually, we're a family of four now, as we have a four-year-old daughter named Siobhán. Well, a family of six, if you count our two cats!

Drinks all 'round. Congratualtions and best wishes to you, the lad, and his mother.
May God bless you all.
My kids are 29 and 32, and I just wish I'd spent more time with them and less time at work when they were small. They'll be grown before you know it.
