Yes indeed that's probably the first jabot that I've liked! Very nice.

I still don't care for jabots in general, not with the closed-collar Montrose/Kenmore jackets, not with PCs, not with anything. If I wanted to look like an 18th century person I would wear 18th century style clothes (and have done).

Perhaps that is my problem. There are things that seem appealing to my mind that could, perhaps, be brought forward to contemporary dress, but that are actually out of place to the eyes of all others; something I need to work much more on in my thinking. Having grown up seeing paintings of George Washington wearing his jabot doesn't help any, either.
Hard to find one's place here.

Good luck, MacLowlife, and hope you come up with a dark-red doublet to go with your jabot.

MacLowlife and CMcG, what you bring up is why I stopped advocating the use of the jabot in black tie attire a while back; I used to suggest it a lot, and I think I was in love with the idea… To my mind, I still think the jabot is very handsome, though not something I should wear.

Granted, I only have my memory and imagination, along with the influence and descriptions of other members. In the end, the principles of blandness won out; a return to my roots of sorts… Even though creagdhubh is trying to lure me back in with this talk of "simplicity" in jabots.

    Hahaha, quite right mate!

    Only memory and imagination?

What could be better? We remember the best and imagine we look even better! The only time I am forced to regard my own midsection ( which is the only time I do) is when I stay in a hotel, about once a year. In my memory, it is muscular and strong. It is that way in my imagination, too. But not in those pesky hotel mirrors.

I say imagine yourself down to the Jabot emporium and ask them for a MacPherson special, starched and pleated, light on the lace and heavy on the savoir faire. YOU are sure to impress whosoever you may encounter. I am pretty sure there have been discussions of stocks and other similar self-colored neckcloths, but to paraphrase Burns,

    Those who know
    prefer the jabot.
Some take the high road and some take the low road. Who's in the gutter? MacLowlife

I love it! 'The Macpherson Special!' Oh, I must tell Cluny about that one! Haha!

Do you wave your jabot at truck drivers, MacLowlife.
That's too funny, and sadly, stuck in my mind and imagination, now.

Looks like my image functions are back!

I like the way this jabot from Kinloch Anderson lies a bit more flat:

This one from Lady Chrystel and modeled by Ancienne Alliance is also lovely in its relative simplicity:

Someone mentioned Chas' jabot earlier and I think it is a good example of how one could wear one with a PC. Notice his high cut waistcoat? The fly plaid and horsehair sporran help to make this outfit THAT dressed up, even without a doublet:

Finally, for those who follow internet memes:

That's the one CMcG, thanks for putting it up. As I said in my original post I think it works well with the high cut vest and PC

Here's a quick question: what about a jabot in any colour other than white?
