Please also take into account light sand of beige coloured (not lovat green!) officers hoses. This colour of hoses was specific to Black Watch officers and SNCOs only.

Also, can't see your kilt from back, but remember, at least until 1960s , the Black Watch kilts were barrel pleated!

Here are a couple old Black Watch sporrans. You can find these on Ebay fairly regularly, sometimes with the badge, sometimes plain.

Yes each regiment had its own style.

The kind you have there, with the hidden press closure, was worn by the Camerons, seen here:

This is the style which was adopted for the RRS today.

This 1957 photo shows the light khaki hose and puttees worn by the Pipe Major, in contrast with the rest of the pipers. I'm assuming that Senior NCOs wore the same style as Officers, I could be wrong.

What's interesting is that there's at least one WWII photo of the BW Pipe Major where he is clearly wearing the ordinary khaki (US olive drab) hose.

You can see the distinctive BW sporran too.

Here's your kit again, showing the Officer uniform, in comparison here is my kit today, a Pipe Major in dressed-up Battle Dress. We have identical sleeve insignia, that of the 1st and 7th Black Watch, 154 Brigade, 51st (Highland) Division. (The guy I'm posing with is an actual paratrooper, but here dressed as a WWII paratrooper.) My pipes are c1905 Lawries with sheepskin bag. It was common for pipers to wear their Full Dress type belts even with otherwise plain Battle Dress. The buckle was only worn by the Pipe Major, thistles with "42".
