What kind of head wear would you consider appropriate to be worn, as a civilian, when wearing the kilt?(TICK AS MANY AS YOU LIKE).
    A) Balmoral.
    B) Glengarry.
    C) Deer Stalker/Fore 'n Aft.
    D) Flat tweed cap.
    E) Base ball Cap.
    F) Panama.
    G) Other.

What kilt jacket do you wear to a FORMAL kilted wedding (NOT a principal guest)?(TICK ONE ONLY)
    A) Tweed day jacket.
    B) Prince Charlie.
    C) Black barathea silver/black buttoned Argyll(day jacket).
    D) Other.
NOTE FOR XMARKERS: The Wedding service is normally, in the UK, over by about 1700 Hrs..

What Kilt Jacket would you wear to a "normal" wedding (NOT a principal guest)?(TICK ONE ONLY)
    A) Back barathea silver/black buttoned day jacket.
    B) Black ,or, grey tweed day jacket.
    C) Tweed day jacket other than black ,or, grey.
    D) PC.
    E) Other.

What would you consider the most versatile Kilt Jacket in your wardrobe?(TICK ONE ONLY)
    A) Black barathea Argyll.
    B) An evening "dress" jacket other than a PC.
    C) PC.
    D) Tweed Argyll.(day jacket)

I would not presume to know the answers that might have been given, but there is nothing to stop you all from answering them. THEN try to answer them again imagining you are a traditional Scot and see if your answers are the same!

I will take you up on that, Jock.

What kind of head wear would you consider appropriate to be worn, as a civilian, when wearing the kilt?(TICK AS MANY AS YOU LIKE).
    A) Balmoral. Yes
    B) Glengarry.
    C) Deer Stalker/Fore 'n Aft. Yes
    D) Flat tweed cap.
    E) Base ball Cap.
    F) Panama. Yes
    G) Other. I have a very cool (temperature), wide brimmed hat for hot, sunny days
What kilt jacket do you wear to a FORMAL kilted wedding (NOT a principal guest)?
    A) Tweed day jacket.
    B) Prince Charlie.
    C) Black barathea silver/black buttoned Argyll(day jacket). Yes
    D) Other.
NOTE FOR XMARKERS: The Wedding service is normally, in the UK, over by about 1700 Hrs..

    B) Black ,or, grey tweed day jacket. Yes
    C) Tweed day jacket other than black ,or, grey. Yes
    D) PC.
    E) Other.
Note: which ever would be closest to normal for everyone else and that is usually other than black/grey

What would you consider the most versatile Kilt Jacket in your wardrobe?
    A) Black barathea Argyll.
    B) An evening "dress" jacket other than a PC.
    C) PC.
    D) Tweed Argyll.(day jacket)
This would be both A and D since, to me, A can be formal or "fancy casual" and D can be very casual to fancy casual

I think if I was a traditional Scot, such as yourself , it would be VERY close to the same except for the head ware which would leave off the OTHER option. Of course, as I normally am, I could be wrong.

I don't think we differ by that much, thanks greg.

Now as you did not know the exact rules(MY FAULT) all questions that don't specifically say "tick as many as you like" you only have one choice per question. I will just add that bit to the questions to make that clear. Sorry.

I tend to be a little more formal than most at functions without upstaging the principals (Bride and groom)

I sold my gray charcoal tweed and black/chrome button kilt jackets a few years ago. If it's a daytime event I wear one of three tweed kilt jackets. If it's a formal event I currently wear a PC, although a velvet RD is pending.

How's the velvet Regulation Doublet coming along, David? I currently have one on order in black velvet from Kinloch-Anderson. I may do a coloured velvet coatee, perhaps in an emerald green some time soon. I have always been quite fond of coloured velvets, but was never entirely sure (more along the lines of being indecisive) which color to choose - based upon my Macpherson tartans.

    Best wishes,

    For me:-

    Question 1- A & C
    Question 2- C
    Question 3- C
    Question 4- D

Interestingly I attended Ashbourne Highland games in the summer and wore a 'Fore and Aft, and was scoffed at by a native weegie (who was dressed in evening attire even though it was the afternoon- cheek )

Ha ha they do have a certain "charm"! I wasn't too offended as I know what the weegies are like, and you can't take them too seriously as they don't take themselves too seriously! It's commonplace in Glesca to see two old guys in a pub effing and blinding at each other like they're about to start throwing punches, and a minute later it's all forgotten and it turns out they've been having the same kind of "discussions" regularly for the last fifty years! This chap was saying stuff like "where's the deer?" and "are you some kind of laird?" Oscar Wilde-esque rapier wit, I'm sure you'll agree
