Robertson, I hope you and Emma celebrate her birthday in fine fashion.
On the other hand, I want you all to know that I have already (after only about an hour) received a response from VisitScotland, to wit:
James
Thanks for your email. I'm afraid I am not aware of this issue, but as soon as I am back in the office tomorrow I will look into it and get back to you as soon as I can with our response.
Best wishes

I think we should give credit where it is due. Ms. Black is certainly responsive, and I appreciate it. I do not think this is a conspiracy against Americans, but something should be done.
As a final note, one comment would not keep me from traveling anywhere. That is why I wanted to know the "official" feelings of Scots toward loud-mouthed American tourists. I have always enjoyed time spent in Scotland, but I do not go where I am not wanted. I just need to know if I am wanted.

This is Shocking but lets not turn this into a English V Scots I know many English people who have come to live here who love this country and are adopted Scots like any other nationality, I know a few English people who do a fantastic job for the Scots tourist industry. If it were up to me everyone involved in promoting Scotland would wear the Kilt as a matter of course. Scot or not.

Thanks for saying this.
One of my Fiance's closet friends is a lovely Englishman who loves Scotland to the core and does more to promote Scottish tradition than most Scots I know.

wow..... just ....wow.
Forget the whole English v Scots thing. This has nothing to do with that.
It has everything to do with a guy who works in a tourist bureau slamming tourists. Who does that? Extremely extremely unprofessional on his part.
The thing that gets me most isn't even the insult itself.....whatever, I've been called names before, no biggie...but the dig at Robertson, that was so uncalled for. Who on board here has promoted Scotland more than him? Always sharing pics of all the wonderful places, events and scenery. Welcoming his guests with a dram or two.
I dare say Robertson is doing a far better job welcoming tourists than Mr. "visitscotland" himself.
