    Talking Re: Scottish Bonnets?

I'm sure there is a separate thread for bartering, but I wanted to tag it in here.

My last barter was a bonnet for a lady in exchange for credit at the microbrewery. Yes, beer for a bonnet. The recipient was so pleased with it that her husband threw in an additional fill-up of my growler. Not only is this hotly economical in these "financially distressed times", I made a great business owner feel like the hero of Christmas present because she loves it. Stuff like that is why I knit funny hats. I have an inkling all your barterers know what I'm talking about. Now if somebody will direct me to the thread on bartering, we can trade photos of our swag.

I have to ask, Dale, about that vest. I assume it is not off the rack. I want something similar in a weathered tartan.
I hope you don't mind but I saved a copy of the photo.

Actually it WAS off the rack. It's a wool vest from Eddie Bauer I got about 15 years ago and hasn't been available since. I think they were trying to compete with the slightly heavier wool vest from Filson, which is very similar and which I like even better -- and which comes in a number of color choices:

    Re: Scottish Bonnets?

i have not seen anyone mention tartan tams... at least i do not know what else to call them... but i have four that i received as a teenager upon completion of wilderness canadian canoe trips in ontario and manitoba ranging from 7 days/125 miles to 18 days/330 miles. my high school letter jackets are in a closet at my parents' house. my trip tams (10 inches) have gone with me to college, law school, hurricane evacuations... my sister brought the hunting stewart from her trip to scotland. the 12 inch green one is the tam i mentioned earlier in the thread that i ordered from what price glory. the buchanan i wore this morning walking the dogs. i still intend on getting a ryan ross bonnet (or two) after i pay off some of these pesky christmas bills.

Thank you. I just wanted to give the "look" more power.
I am contemplating another version soon....
