It Works!! No More Ironing!!
Turns out I couldn't afford the cost of a lot of tablecloth weights.
So juryrigged some.
Bought the WalMart plastic hanger clips they sell by the bag as replacements near their plastic hangers with clips.
Got some heavy cotton thread.
Got some 1/2 ounce lead weights in the fishing dept. The kind with a lead loop on the top.
Tied the lead weights to the hanger clips.
Made up 50 of them.
After washing my denim UK hung it on the shower rod from three hangers with three clips each. Then took the weighted clips and clipped them to the bottom of each outside and each inside sewn pleat.
The weight of the fishing weights gently pulled the wet fabric straight while it dried.
It worked, no need to iron the kilt when it was dry.

No pics yet. Do have a pic of the hanger clip in my gallery with the pic of the desert MARPAT on the hanger.
When the kilts all clipped up it looks kinda like those icicle type holiday lights that hang from a gutter.
Will get a pic next kilt wash

Now Ron, on your next trip to the big city, pick up a small, hand-held steamer. Like those sold to do drapes.
Those wrinkles will fall out in half the time is takes to rig up all those weights. Plus you can "mold" the fabric and get all the pleat edges back straight and sharp.

Steve,
I had seen one of those things in the local mall. The one I saw was imported from Italy. It required you to add salt to the water. It did start steaming in seconds, and the exterior remained relatively cool. It was about $50 (US).
Tried to find others on the net without luck. Is this similar to the ones you have seen?

P.S.Not that I'm jonesing... Looking forward to seeing my kilt from you next month!

Used to have one of those Stanley Steamer rigs for my suits, back before I walked away from Corporate America and gave the suits to the Goodwill.
I'll bet my local WalMarche has some in stock for the holidays...bet they work really well with the weighted clips pulling the seams straight
What overkill?
