Black Watch Stillwater Kilts has arrived
Well, the Stillwater Kilt I ordered arrived, and it's BUILT. I was impressed. Now, I've been back and forth with Jerry about sizes, and I goofed so I'm going to have to send it back and get a smaller one, but that's not Jerry's fault at all.
Even though, theoretically, SK was closed between Christmas and New Years, Jerry got the kilt to me in just a couple of days. It's gorgeous! I don't know how it stacks up againt a custom kilt, 'cause I've never really seen a custom, 16 ouce wool kilt close-up before, but this sure looks nice to me.
I went with Stillwater Kilts, standard kilt because I wanted a kilt with a traditional three-belt closure rather than velcro. I also wanted a kilt without extra markings or insignia. I chose the standard kilt over the budget model because I figured if I was going to get a kilt, while I couldn't afford a custom one, I might as well get a nicer one and start out right.
Jerry was very responsive via e-mail, patient with my waffling on sizes, and shipped the kilt out mighty darned quick.
I'm EXTREMELY looking forward to getting the right sized one in, ASAP!

It's here, I've worn it to work, church, my sailing society meeting, a concert and around town and it ROCKS.
I dig it. I think I'm going to have to get a black Stewart, too.

Alan, that is one very nice looking kilt and you wear it well, BUT................
.......I cannot help thinking that you are wearing the sporran uncomfortably low - cripplingly low, in fact!
Tell me to mind my own business, after all you must wear it as you think fit, but ideally the top of your sporran need be only two or three inches below the bottom of the buckle on your belt.

You're the third person to tell me that!
I've got it on today and I pulled the sporran belt rather tighter and it's much higher on my front than in that picture. I don't notice much difference, but this is working out so I'll probably wear it this way...up higher as suggested.
