    KILT POWER

    Greetings all.

Just needed to share a dream I had last night.

Imagine a world where everyone is in harmony, discussion is cordial, no one gets upset and everyone gets along. Well this happened in my dream last night.

Once everyone donned a kilt, life became better and no one spoke ill of anyone and all were happy. OK I know this is a little far fetched, but dreams are wonderful in spreading good things. So I encourage us all to go about our daily tasks and bring about KILT POWER!

Today is Day Three of Alans Kilt Days At Work.

Yesterday we had the usual group meeting we have every tuesday, except that this one was an extended version...two hours. Several times, several people expressed disappointment that I wasn't wearing the kilt, so hey... I wore it today!

It's turned into a calming, fun, non-confrontational thing to joke about in my group. I'm all for that.

Our student consultants have a bulletin board that they swap chit-chat on as well as log the activities they do during their shifts at the Help Desk, ask questions about desk issues and so on. One of the gilrs put up a post about me wearing my kilt and it's just taken off. It looks like one or two of the guys are thinking about picking up a budget kilt, probably in black or khaki as they can't quite wrap their heads around the tartan thing, yet.

    One guy says...and I quote.

"Boo, boo to kilts I say.
But to obnoxious patrons with stupid questions

I say yay, yay to claymores!"

He's on the right track, I think.

    I say..HUZZAH!

Kilt power! What an idea! It's true though. Put on a kilt and, bingo, you are tranformed.

Careful Glen! Last time you shared your dreams with us, Graham got teased mercilessly for wearing green tights. Wait, that still seems to crop up periodically!

OK, this is too funny not to share.

I'm in line at the Uni bookstore with a card and a bag of Ghiradelli chocolates for my wife (Valentines Day). This nice Chinese girl runs up to me and says..."Are you English or something? I've never seen this before." ..and stares at my kilt.

So I explain about kilts and clans and all that..you know, the thumbnail, thirty second version.

"Wow", she says. "Can I get a picture with you?"

So we proceed, in the middle of the Stanford University Bookstore, to take about twenty pictures of me standing with her various friends, boyfriends and whatnot, who had been hiding behind the card rack all the time and burst out when I said "sure" to the picture request. The three girls were absolutely fascinated by the sporran, and when I showed them that it had my wallet and keys in it, they burst into giggles. I can only imagine what they THOUGHT was in there.

    I'm famous. Sort of.

    Actually, It's just the kilt.

What I need to know is...was I wearing green tights in the dream?

Sounds a nice dream Glen, while I don't believe wearing kilts will bring peace on earth - they sure help!

On another track...it's strange that an article of clothing once associated with a military uniform, fighting and killing can now be regarded as a garment that brings peaceful thoughts (as it does for me).

Guess that's the evolution and versatility of the kilt!

Hmmm...access to Graham's gallery...the judicious application of Adobe Photoshop, and voila! Green tights.

    Sort of.

Alan...it's already been done, by a fellow who is too clever by far and who will remain nameless to further the spirit of unity and harmony on this board.

Glenn, it was in your nightmare? We'll have to call you Joseph, a dreamer of dreams!
