    test drive

took the SWK for a test drive yesterday. (small gulp) started in a VERY small town in wisconsin, spent day in fairly large medical clinic, check-up for the beautiful bride on my arm, moved on to wal-mart and a short walk.
my wife is taking a bunch of soc and psych classes so she was watching for reactions. she reported, i being a typical male and just lumbering (great word, thanks kilt wilter) through the day. from the baggy seated youth, double takes followed by a calculating, cool sort of look. from those of my age cohort, alas about 30 years past the high school nuthouse, not much of any thing. from 70 yr males, what is wrong with that boy!
i picked my kids up at school and got a lot of "why are you wearing a skirt?" after i explained, AGAIN, without embarrasment, shrugs and cool was the reaction. HOWEVER, the principal with whom my spouse and i have had "dealings", wouldn't even make eye contact
can't count how many times i was asked if i played the pipes too maybe i should try
all in all a fun, comfortable day

Well done macgreggor, I know what it's like being kilted in a small town.
I get lots of skirt and bagpipe comments. Today in one town while walking down the street I got one loud snigger from a passing man, and from a passing woman I got very pleasant (who-hoo, type) raising of the eyebrows. So it balanced out.

Yes if only the younger generation could step out from the crowd of baggy jeans and back to front caps...
I'm glad we dicovered kilts before it was too late!

Will you post piccies of the new kilt?

If your wife wants better data have her trail behind you about 20 feet at WalMart or a mall. She'll see a lot of the double takes, when folks look back after you pass and get to hear what they're saying as she comes upon them.

    Lots of fun.
