    Smile out kilting

I went to work at Gander Mt about a week ago. Iwent kilted! Well after all the funny looks and "hey that guy is wearing a dress" comments, it went very well.
Some of the younger girls seemed to like my kilt, of course the smiles were very welcomed.
Also went out tonight to watch Star Wars with my son and some of our friends. While I was waiting, a young guy asked what the pin was in my beret,
I said that it was a Scottish flag. He said that he was from Scottland from Orkney Isle!
We had a good chat and he liked my American style kilt as he called it and said that he grew up wearing the kilt.He asked why I wasn't wearing my family tartan I said that I have to save up for one first.

Well over all I had a great evening. I just like to see my don his kilt sometime
and have a kilt nite out oh well someday.

good nite all. I'm going turkey hunting in the morning.

Let's here it from the younger guys and ladies to really bring us the joy we have while kilted. Gotta love those positive comments, I know I do.

Hope that you can get a turkey in a kilt LOL

Sorry to be a bit damp here, but if he was from Orkney, surely he would have recognised the Scottish flag! Glad you had a good time.

I suspect he mainly wanted to find out if Kiltie as Charged knew what it was before spending time in conversation with a moron without a clue.

Would you want to strike up a conversation with someone wearing a pin with York's crest only to discover later the silly prat had no idea what the crest meant?

I think that he asked what the pin was because it is a small flag pin about 1/2in in length and he was about 10 yards a way from me. He was very polite
and a former U.S. Navy man to boot!

He said that he had been over here for several years. He and his fiance are planning a traditional Scottish wedding.

It was good to hear a positive comment from a Scotsman. I hope that our paths cross again.
