I just went to the local diy shop about a 10 min walk. I was wearing my jeans as I had been doing some mucky work this morning. On the way back there was a retired couple attending to their front garden. We all smiled and said hello and as I was passing the wife said 'I thought I recognised you, arn't you the gentleman who often wears a kilt'.
'I am indeed' I said.
That struck up a wonderful conversation between me and her and her husband for about 10 mins. They both said, albeit breifly, how they thought it was very admirable that I have the courage to wear my cilt out and about. Wait for this .... she said 'I wish more men were as brave as you and would come out and do the same'. She added then that they went to a neices wedding many years ago and the groom (who was scottish) wore a kilt. They said he looked abosolutely fabulous. The kilt was a traditional one and a very expensive one. However they know for a fact to this day he has never worn it since. 'What a waste' she said 'What a waste'. We then talked about their garden and all things like that then I said goodbye.
It was a real suprise confidence booster.
