I wandered into "The Underground" gothic shop in Nurnburg Germany today and l looked at their kilts. What the heck, I'll look. I mean I had nothing better to do untill the Irish Pub opened.
Well the first batch was PATHETIC. 59 Euros the materials were canvas or the thinest tartan that you have ever seen. By the way these were marked "Made in London" and the aprons were backwards!
Then over on the women's section I found a size 38 (which fits me but would not fit a teenage girl) with 3 buckles and the more I looked the more obvious that what I had in my hands was a man's kilt, that had been miss-identified by the German sales girls as women's wear. So the manager and I had a high old time re-arranging the clothes in the racks. Anyway I walked out with a Kilt in a heavy "mixed fiber" Royal Stewart tartan AND a Jacobite shirt AND a kiltpin AND a pair of kilt hose AND a sporran for 117 Euros ($160USD)
Again my cheap highland heart bleeds for you guys paying $500 for a kilt.
