    Stillwater Kilts Info

Someone said that he had a 'heavyweight' but sold it immediately because there were problems both with the hang and with the swing. I would like to know more about those problems since I am on the cusp about ordering one. I understand that there are variations in personal taste and acceptability, but if there are egregious problems I would really like to know what they are.

I remember hearing/reading that about the "economy" one, but really don't recall anyone having a problem with the new "heavy". Problems with the sway and all are almost hard to imagine! They're not constructed to where they could NOT have the sway! Either it's a "mis-read" or someone's not being completely up front!

I wonder if perhaps the person got the kilt and in their rush to see how it looked put it on without removing the basting stitches first. They don't hang or swing worth a darn with those still in. (Don't ask how I know such things, LOL)

Jerry does say to try it on before taking the basting stitches out, to make sure you got the right size, as he doesn't take returns on those without the stitches.

    Hey all,

I think they offer two "heavyweight" choices, both a wool Black Watch 8-yarder and an acrylic black 6-yarder. Maybe someone was complaining about the hang and swing of the acrylic "heavyweight"? (Don't know this, just a guess) But all this talk and the pics have just about pushed me over the edge where I gotta have the wool one. Thanks alot, guys, you just cost me 150 bucks! LoL!!!!!

Hey dont blame us, it's the frickin addiction! I went to SWK website, and was pissed they didnt have a 44" waist $99 acrylic black watch. I emailed them and they said they were phasing them out for 100% wool kilts, check back in a few days. I friggin refreshed that page about 10x a day for 3 days til the wool kilts appeared and bought one as soon as they did. Ordered it on a Wednesday, the first day I saw them on there, got it on Friday. I want a cut of the profits man, the pics I posted of the kilt have lead to at least 3 purchases I know of! I havent even worn it yet other than to pose for the pics, too damn hot out.

It was me who said they didn't care for the hang and swing of the SWK Heavy. It was an acrylic and I DID take the stitches out before trying it on. Sorry for offending anyone...and I'm not trying to disuade anyone else from purchasing a SWK or say anything about the quality of their items...I just personally didn't like the look (it had a bit of a shine to it), feel (a bit too pliable or soft...can't put my finger on it...for my taste) or play (mainly I didn't care for the way the front apron hung) of the acrylic material. Call me a purist or a snob...call me what you will, I have simply decided that I really prefer 100% worsted UK wool becasue there IS a discernable difference. Therefore, all my kilts are and will be made from 13-oz or heavier and 8-yards or greater of 100% worsted UK wool.
