Kilts Against Bigotry
At work kilted today (UK navy blue mocker).
Came out to our agency lobby to greet a client. Noticed an agency client, noted for delusions and bigotry, in deep discussion with our Chief Financial Officer.
The CFO came to me later chuckling. Seems this client is very homophobic and he had been deep into lodging a complaint against a gay male therapist at the agency who he claimed was coming on to him inappropriately.
The agency has two lesbian therapists, but no gay male therapists...so the CFO is trying to follow this guy and figure out who he's talking about.
Just then I walk into the lobby kilted. She said he just froze up, shut up, and walked out of the building....
I love it!
I'm used to double takes, but not stunning clients with serious mental illness....

Oh, I love how straight guys think they're all the most attractive thing to walk down the pike since Alan Cumming...
Good for you! Maybe, just possibly, you'll cause him to change his mind about some things.

Sadly, this bird is waaaaay tooooo mentally ill to change his mind.
I'm wondering if this will somehow shift his mind and suddenly I'll be the gay guy that came on to him....but I'm still straight.....ahhh, the world of mental illness is a wild place to introduce kilts to the public in a small frontier town...

but just think, the telephone switchboard was developed in just such a place and look at it now....(way too much history trivia)
gotta add, that's one of the things I really enjoy about the kilt. It destroys a lot of barriers. Go into a room, sit at a desk, people across get nervous, then you get to ask, " some of the women would like a modesty plate on this desk, do you think it can be arranged?". We get to learn how others are harassed and discriminated on in a real way, and hopefully, those of us who are on the top of the food chain can look out for others and tangibly help.
