    for the record

I bought a kilt belt and standard sporran from Stillwater when I got my HW, and to be honest, the sporran was not any better than the cheapy I got off eBay (although it cost less, which I suppose is a good thing), and the belt smells REALLY funky, and doesn't lie flat across the buckle. It sort of tilts to the side.
Maybe that's what kilt belts do, I dunno. But I don't like it very much. Maybe I should've waited and bought a better belt later

The KILT itself is amazingly awesome and cool. Don't get me wrong. I guess I would say that Stillwater doesn't have the GREATEST accessories, although the Buzz Kidder Rob Roy looks well worth the money.

    Anywho.

I think USAKilts carries the Buzz Kidder Rob Roy $5 cheaper than Stillwater and includes shipping.

The Buzz Kidder is great for it's price, I think. I got one from USA Kilts, and I like it a lot.

I bought an inexpensive kilt belt off ebay and found that the belt did tilt to one side becuase of the tall piece on the back where the belt is to wrap. You are correct that it is unsightly.

My sollution was to remove the keeper on one side and feed the belt thru the slot. Then slip the keeper over the end of the belt so it is actually hidden by the buckle then turn the belt back on itself and feed it back thru the slot allowing it to adhere to the velcro on the inside of the belt. This helped level out the buckle but you now are missing a keeper on one side. If you can round up another keeper for the belt or get a set of two that match this is a viable fix.

Truthfully though, for casual wear, I've found the simple everyday belts from local stores are fine for with a kilt as long as they are at least 1.25". I found a 1.75" belt at walmart that works great for my USA kilt and my UK. They come in brown and black. Plus, when I was ready to make a leather sporran strap I could run down to the store and buy leather that was an exact match to my belt.

The buzz kidder sporrans are great for a guy who may only have one sporran for a while. They are a bit more than the cheapies on ebay but you will be wearing for a very long time as an everyday sporran.
