Burnie Show
You've never heard of Burnie show??
not surprised, Burnie is our nearest city, each year they host a big show, you know, animals and prize winning cows, rides on things that make one vomit, etc.
2 days ago I learned that they were having tents and displays featuring various countries, one being Scotland, but they had nothing to fill the tent with.
Graham springs into action and today I set up a display of Scottish flags, info about the local Pipe Band, new World Celts, Bravehearts Tasmania and an interactive thing where men can come and try on a kilt for the first time, have their photo taken etc.
might get a few converts to kilts.
It opens in the morning and I'll be manning the display for the next two days and talking to folk about kilts and all things Scottish.
more later..

Very cool Graham. Kind of like a county fair.

I'd love to fly down there and attend this shindig and give you a hand but by the time I got there it would be two days from now...I expect that it would be over by then.
Do try to get some pictures, though, I'm sure that we'd all like to see it.

Good on ya' Graham!
Somehow I know that you would take on such a noble endeavor.

Looking forward to reading how it goes. I couldn't think of a better ambassador for the kilt.

Well day one is over, and in spite of terrible weather, the day went well.
The "try a kilt" idea didn't fly for a couple of reasons, but it was a good opportunity to promote the kilt, New World Celts, our Pipe Band and other celtic interests.
Photos from the day have been uploaded to my photo album
