Utilikilt Brand Recognition in Sandy Eggo
Flew over to Sandy Eggo Friday for a visit with my brother and family, a birthday gift from my lady. No problem flying kilted out of Phoenix, AZ. Wore my tan UK Survival II and followed the advice about putting all my metal stuff in the cargo pockets. Unsnapped them at security, put them in my briefcase for the xray ride. Took off my belt and the survival II went through the walk through deal without going off. Did need to take the belt off, swung the buckle through to test and it did set it off.
No problem from the TSA folks until I was reassembled on the other side and headed for the gate. An old TSA guy said something about wearing a skirt being a comfortable way to fly. Just agreed. Did keep the cargo pockets in the briefcase for the flight to avoid the seating hassles they can cause.
Yesterday went shopping in Carlsbad, CA...retail therapy. My brother bought my a cool Skully cap from the O' Ireland shop for a birthday present. Today did retail therapy in Oceanside.
Would guess I've had at least a half a dozen positive comments about the kilt I was wearing (UK camo original yesterday, Black Workman's today) and EVERYONE identified them as Utilikilts by name. Great brand recoginition.
Was haunting the G.I. type stores full of Marine stuff in Oceanside and nary a negative comment.

"I'll have a kilt please, a nice hand sewn tartan, 16 ounce Strome. Oh, and a sporran on the side, with a strap please."
