Unknown tartans ...
... if they are tartans at all.
Like some of the other members, I occasionally wear plaid shirts with my solid color kilts. One of these shirts I know is a Robertson Red; I intentionally ordered it for that fact. But I've been wondering what tartans the others are, if they are tartans at all. And if they are, I've been thinking one or two would good as kilts ...
Here are the shirts. Actually, you have to hit "Start Slide Show," and they're pictures 6-11. I know that #11 is not as square as it could be - I was taking a picture of my own back while wearing the shirt. (And now you know why my avatar is a Muppet:-P).
Anyway, any thoughts or guesses would be appreciated.

I have actually used this successfully. It's a reverse search - you enter the colors and it comes up with matching tartans.

Good luck.

You're hilarious!
What you need to understand is that in Britain, what we call plaids are called tartans--all of them, not just those officially adopted by clans. The word "plaid" comes from the Gaelic word for blanket, & that is how the word is used in the U.K.
So what you're wondering is if your tartan shirts are tartans that represent any clans.
I have no idea.

Sherry -- I have seen reference to "Bumby" tartans, which is Scottish slang for a plaid pattern designed to look like a tartan. Thompson makes mention of this in his book.
