    My New Year's Experience

Drove out to the Jersey Shore to spend the holiday weekend with my college buddy/roommate at his home...Spent all weekend kilted, of course!

Friday: I was wearing my Tan UK with boots and rolled down rugby socks. Went out to dinner at a Japanese restaurant; The hostess loved the kilt, and was explaining how the unbifurcated robes men wear in Japan are somewhat similar, etc. Not much of a response otherwise.

Saturday: During the day, went to see "Munich" at the movie theatre; several positive comments from other moviegoers; Later on, we went to a New Year's party: I was wearing my Scottish National tank with matching green hose and boots and a black "Barleyjuice" T-shirt (the party was casual.) Most of the guests at the party were from the punk/ska scene, and had been exposed to kilts via Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys, etc. It was the warmest reception I've ever felt kilted! I instantly became the "guy-to-know" at the party. I must say, all the positive attention (especially when enhanced by libations! ;)) was very gratifying!

All in all, a good weekend! Hope the new year brings many more kilted memories for you all!

Sounds like a great time. We went out dancing after the opera and I several compliments and looks. By midnight, no one was feeling any pain. I'm actually suprised no one tried to sneak a peek.

    Mine was great..

Mrs.Zardoz and I met my Dad and his wife, and a few other friends at a local Irish pub for their New Years dinner and party. I wore my Irish National and a black long sleeve dress shirt. This pub is generally has an 'older' crowd, (keeping in mind I'm 43) so events like this are quiter and better dressed than those at other bars. I cut a pretty good profile though, since the kilt is a pretty bold green, and I was the only guy in the kilt, I was hard to miss!
I did get lots of compliments from the ladies, and some from gents too. This pub has many regulars who are Irish and Scot business travelers or transplants, I had one obviously Scottish fellow say he wished he had not left his kilts at home this trip!

    Happy 2006!
