From the Garden of the Gulf

    Greetings folks,

been lurking for a short time and have now taken the plunge.

First, I've never worn the kilt and doubt I will wear one on a "regular" basis, but who knows. I am of Irish, Scottish, English and Native (Huron) heritage, a true Canuck! So, I am "entitled" (note the quotations) to wear the Farquharson, Clan Chattan, many Irish and Canadian Tartans, besides the universals. Also, of course, the RCAF tartan.

Retired CAF and RAF Officer (Aircrew), with a very short time with the Canadian Grenadier Guards.

I plan on making my own kilts as I picked up the ability to sew over the years, working in fabric (all weights and types) and leather.

I'm gonna do my best to stay out of political-type discussions.

    Cheers
    Steve

Just poking around looking for history about, and types of, kilts. Seems like a great resource. Not ever (I hope) going to get involved in Irish vs Scottish vs etc. kilts.

By the way, my Huron ancestors wore kilts as well. ;-)

Steve, Welcome to Xmarks! At first I thought that I would not wear a kilt on a regular basis, but that all changed after I acquired my first two kilts. They are quite addictive. You will find a lot of great folks here at Xmarks, and a wealth of knowledge about kilts.
