An interesting trip to the shops

I have just returned from the local shops, wearing jeans I'm afraid as I'm in the middle of unblocking the kitchen sink. When I got to the first shop there was an elderly lady trying to get out with her shopping trolley. I held the door open wide for her and gave her a hand. She could'nt thank me enough. Then when I went into the bakers this same lady was in there choosing some items. She told the lady behind the counter to 'carry on and serve this gentleman first' and continued to tell her what a true gentleman I was for helping her. The lady behind the counter then said to me 'no Cilt today'. I explained the job I was in the middle of doing. The elderly lady then spoke out and said ' you wear a Cilt as well' .. thats wonderful and very becoming'. Why are'nt you wearing it now'. She obviously hadn't heard me explaing to shop assistant why I did'nt have it on. I then explained it to her, What a shame she said. Anyhow, I bought my bread and said my goodbyes and left it at that. Considering I never wore my Cilt out it seemed to proceed today.

    Interesting trip to the Shops

Yes, indeed Derek, once people get used to seeing you in the cilt they expect you to wear it all the time. I sometimes wear my black kilt and argyle jacket when sitting as Magistrates' Clerk/Assessor and on other days when I'm wearing my pinstripe trousered suit I'm sometimes asked why I'm not wearing the kilt today.

It's interesting that, in some cases, we get more comments for not wearing the kilt than for wearing it.

I'll take your word for that Casey. There is no way I am going to buy a pair of t------s so that I can put this to the test! ;)
