The tax man has made me happy...AND CONFUSED
I had my taxes done today and sure enough there's gonna be some money back from Uncle Sam to get me the TFCK Kilt Suit of my dreams and a few other kilts as well...
The only conundrum...it's also enough to pay on the 2 week adventure hike trip of my dreams too...grrrr.....such confusion....CALGON TAKE ME AWAY....
To kilt or to hike, canoe, kayak, canyoneer, etc. for 2 weeks in 2007? Sigh...it's mind boggling...

Easy decision...
Take the trip. I know not what you expected to hear, but as you get older (and I am only 30) things start to creep up on you and vacations are harder to come by, children, significant others, older parents can get in the way of a trip of a lifetime. It sounds like your dream trip is very an active one, so you will want to do it when you are young, and can enjoy it to the fullest. TFCK will be around a long time, and probably have that kilt suit you are eyeing for a long time as well.
Just my own opinion, good luck with your decision.

LOL well I'm 31 and trust me...it's a hard call for me....I'm going to have to see what their 2007 calendar looks like but it would be sweet to spend 2 weeks in New Zealand on that hike. The airfare's not included (another 1500 or so) but to go over the entire South Island would be AMAZING....then again, if they do the back to back weeks in Switzerland next year that could be cool as well....sigh...decisions decisions.....

I agree, take the dream trip. Kilts are great, but they are just clothing. A material item will never compare to an experience in my mind.

Don't listen to them! Buy Kilts!
Seriously-
IMHO the trip is the best option. Those kind of opportunities only rarely occur.

Definitely take the trip. I always try to travel as much as time and money will allow. A piece of clothing, no matter how nice, can never compare to experiencing another part of the world.
As St. Augustine said, "Life is a book. Those who do not travel read only one chapter."

TAKE THE TRIP YOU NITWIT!!! (he is a friend so i can say that!)
AND TAKE ME WITH YOU!!!!!
you will have all sort of great adventures while travelling (most of which you can do kilted) and I will even make you a kilt out of the kindness of my heart if you take me along!!! :-)
I did a similar trip a couple of years back in Jackson Wyoming - one of the best vacations I have taken yet!
ITS A KILT, G** D*** IT!

Go on ebay, get a kid's viewfinder and a series of photos from New Zealand. Walk through the Catskills, with the viewfinder taped to your face. Click it every 100 steps. As you wear your new kilt, of course. Then, you have them both!
Seriously, I'd go with the trip, too. Then you can sell "tales of adventure" to buy your kilts later.

I'm another one who'll vote for the trip. I know that's what I'd do with the money if it was me.

Taxman has made me happy and confused
My vote goes to the trip too. See the world while you are young and fit. My wife is now disabled following a stroke in 1999 and we don't travel much nowadays, but we have happy memories of visits to Vancouver Island, Cyprus, Israel, Morocco etc. from when we were younger and more able.
